The solemn opening of the forum of people's diplomacy "The role of graduates of Russian and Soviet universities in the development and dissemination of Russian education and culture in the world" was held on 4 March at the Centre of high technologies of BSTU. Representatives of 25 countries, as well as Russian diplomats, heads of universities and other officials arrived in Belgorod to participate in this international event. In total, the Technological University hosted on this day about 50 guests - graduates of Soviet and Russian universities. More than 50 guests took part in this forum - graduates of Soviet and Russian universities.

On 18 of April the cooperation agreement between the Amman Arab University (Jordan) and BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov was signed. The parties agreed on the students and professors exchange, the implementation of joint innovation projects, the holding of scientific conferences, the preparation of educational courses and the publication of scientific materials.

Dr. Osama El-Serwy, Counselor for Cultural Affairs of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Russia visited Belgorod State Technological University on 7 April. He is an honorary professor at our university and deals with issues of Egyptian education in Russia and bilateral relations of our countries in the field of culture. He met with students of the Preparatory faculty and Egyptian students to tell about the establishment of Egyptian students Union in Russia and hold elections to its regional committee.

On May 18 the delegation of representatives of foreign universities and educational agencies arrived to our university for discussing cooperation with the university. Guests from Uganda, India, Nepal, Ghana and Palestine met at a round table in the Center for High Technologies with the rector of the university S.N. Glagolev, the president of the university A.M. Gridchin, heads of institutes and structural units of BSTU named V.G. Shukhova.

On May 15 a colleague from Germany - Professor Stefan Voth started a visit to our university. He represents the Higher Technical University named after G. Agricola. The sphere of his interests is connected with the mining business that is why the department of machinery meets and accepts the professors.

On the May 3 the delegation of one of leading universities of Germany - the Higher Technical University named after G. Agricola has arrived at the BSTU.

The group of guests included Professor Christian Melshers and six students, but they are already professionals. They have to study at the university and work at the same time, every one of them heads a company in the field of mining. Finding new knowledge in the university, they also exchange their accumulated practical experience.

On the 23nd of May delegation of the University. Hassan I (Morocco, Settat) arrived at Belgorod State technological University named after V. G. Shukhov. The delegation comprising president of the university- Professor Ahmed Nezhmeddin with his wife, vice rector in science - Professor Riyadh Fakri, owner of the Founty Institute- Dr. Ali Bellush.

On July 5, the official opening of the summer language school on the program "Study + Rest" was held. The school has been conducted for 10 years by the faculty of the preparatory faculty for foreign citizens and the Russian language department. During these years, more than 1,000 people from different countries of the world have trained. Representatives from France, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Spain, Poland, USA, Jordan, Morocco, Egypt, Israel, Morocco and Peru came this year.

President of the Palestinian Association of Alumni of Russia and CIS, Dr. Rabah Nidal visited BSTU. The foreign guest invited the administration of our university to join the 10th All-Arab Forum of Foreign Graduates of Soviet and Russian universities to be held next March in Palestine.

On July 13 the delegation from Damanhur and Alexandria universities (Egypt) visited our university. It included the coordinator of international cooperation of the University of Damanhur, Dr. Hussain Motaveh, the dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of Damanhur, Dr. Carolina Barakat, the dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Alexandria University, Professor Abdelaziz H. Konsova.

Representatives of Afghanistan met with the vice-rector on international activities of BSTU, doctor of technical sciences, professor Ruslan V. Lesovik, to discuss issues of further cultural and scientific cooperation, as well as to present gratitude to the university for training professional personnel for foreign countries on behalf of the embassy of this Islamic republic.

BSTU was the only university which the ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to the Russian Federation Mr. Johnson Agara Olvav visited during his stay in Belgorod region. The interest of representatives of this East African country to Belgorod region is connected, first of all, with production of vegetables, fruits and greens in the field of drying equipment, equipment for confectionery and bakery industries, as well as sowing and tillage machinery.

Delegation of representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church had visited BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, headed by the lord of Pachomius (Gachichem) - Bishop Vranskim. The guests met with the vice rector for international activities, Professor RV. Lesovik, toured the campus and visited the Serbian Resource Center of the University, who recently received the status of the Institute for Serbian Language and Communication.

Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Olga Y. Vasilieva arrived to BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov during her official visit. During a working visit to the Belgorod Region. The guest was familiarized with the work of the University Center for High Technologies, also she was shown the modern laboratories for carrying out experiments and scientific research.

On the 4 of August visited the delegation consisting of the Chairman of the Association of Alumni of Soviet and Russian Universities from Montenegro, the General Secretary of the Association of Graduates of Soviet and Russian Universities from Serbia PetarPaikovich (Podgorica, Montenegro - Belgrade, Serbia), the representative of the business community A.Zdebsky(Moscow) and the leaders of the Inter-regional Club "Russian-Serbian Dialogue" Y.Osenkov and O.Osenkova (Voronezh) had visited BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov.

International architectural plein-air has come to the end, which gathered artists from Syria, Morocco, Egypt and Kuwait. From early morning until late in the evening for two weeks, famous Arab sculptors worked on marble in the university to give students and employees their creations. Solemnly closing the plein air, the rector of the university S.N. Glagolev promised that fine works created by sculptors, will decorate the campus of BSTU. He thanked the participants of the plein-air for their work and wished them inspiration and creative success.

On December 22, the Secretary-General of the Association of Graduates of Soviet and Russian Universities of Serbia and Montenegro, Petar Pajkovich, visited BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, where he met with the first Vice-Rector of the University, Nikolai Shapovalov.
